‘Help Holford Hall’

Holford & District’s refurbished and enlarged community hall is about to become a reality. But we still need your help. The Hall committee has successfully secured £565,500 in grant funding from the charitable trusts listed below. We now have sufficient funds for the main project, but will need a little more money, and some practical help, to finish off the Hall.

Wassailing Fundraiser in aid of Cancer Research UK and the

Stogursey Twinning Association

We spent the most wonderful day on Saturday 5th January at Colepool Orchard, Burton dancing, singing and giving thanks with friends and neighbours who had travelled from several local villages. We enjoyed, homemade soup, hot dogs, mulled cider and other delights, whilst we gathered around braziers and wassailed with the Apple King and his amazing band and followers.  We all sang: Here’s to thee, old apple tree, that blooms well, bears well. Hats full, caps full, Three-bushel bags full, An’ a little bit under the stairs. Hurrah! Hurrah! We would like to thank Pete Cross for the use of the Orchard and the group of helpers who set the wonderful scene and created such a warm and friendly environment, the Wassail group and the most amazing band that kept us to time and made us all dance and sing. Thanks must also be said to the local businesses and individuals who were extremely generous with raffle prizes, and last but certainly not least all of the other helpers who worked so hard behind the scenes and on the day to feed and water everyone. We raised a massive £1,114.00 on the day and this was only made possible by everyone who supported the Wassail and showed much generosity. Thank you – Community Spirit at Its Best!
