This page can be used by members of the village to advertise help available etc in alleviating problems occuring due to the current Coronoavirus epidemic. Please email editor@holfordvillage.com 

Somerset Waste Partnership

Odd/even number plate access has ended but all other restrictions remain to ensure social distancing and safety for customers and staff, including reduce unloading bays that will cause long queues. Check queue cams for eight sites before setting off: https://www.somersetwaste.gov.uk/recycling-centre-queue- ca…/ All these restrictions maintained: • Permits system still applies; no vans over 3.5 tonnes, no double-axle trailers, or vans, pick-ups, motorhomes or minibuses towing trailers, at any time • All cars, and vans under 3.5 tonnes with permits, can access open sites at any time on any day. • If holding permits - see https://www.somersetwaste.gov.uk/apply-for-a-permit/ - single-axle short trailers and 3.5 tonne vans, including pick-ups, motorhomes or minibuses, can use open sites 4pm-6pm weekdays and at no other times. • Reduced parking bays and no access to usual recycling skips to ensure strict social distancing • No people with COVID-19 symptoms, or those asked to shield • Site staff cannot offer manual assistance with heavy items • Gloves to be worn outside vehicles • Maximum two people per household • No pedestrian or bicycle access • Access "one in, one out" Only these materials are taken: • Black sack rubbish (landfilled in Somerset) • Bulky items, such as mattresses and furniture (landfilled in Somerset) • Garden waste (composted in Somerset) • Large electricals, such as cookers, fridges, TVs (recycled in UK) • Household hazardous waste, such as solvents, garden chemicals, paint thinners and antifreeze (treated and disposed of in UK) • Cooking and engine oils in disposable containers; maximum size five litres (recycled in UK) • Metals (recycled in UK) Not taken at recycling sites unless essential (temporarily these will be landfilled): • Anything that can and is recycled kerbside - food, card, paper, cans, glass bottles and jars, foil, aerosols, plastic bottles (use kerbside collections) • Textiles, clothes, shoes (these are not collected kerbside until further notice) • Wood, small electrical items (these will be taken at recycling sites in future) • Plastic pots, tubs, trays, Tetra Paks, other beverage cartons (these will be taken at recycling sites in future) The range of materials for recycling at recycling sites is being widened step by step over time, based on the practicalities of each site and the success of social distancing. As and when other materials are added, such as card, wood, small electricals, Tetra Paks/beverage cartons, or plastic pots, tubs and trays, announcements will be made; no dates yet. Not taken until further notice: • Anything involving payment - hardcore (including stone, rubble, clay, bricks and concrete, as well as sinks, tiles and toilets made from ceramics or porcelain), soil, tyres, gas bottles or vehicle parts • Commercial waste • Asbestos or plasterboard (Compost is not available to buy) Expect queues and delays. If queuing, turn off engine, maintain social distance with those waiting, and then unload on site swiftly to let others take your place.

Grocery Orders from Kilve Stores

and Prescriptions

Dear All As   shopping   becomes   increasingly   difficult   in   these   worrying times,   we   have   arranged   with   Matt   and   Charlotte   at   Kilve Stores   for   them   to   make   a   weekly   delivery   to   the   village hall    which    we    will    then    distribute    to    the    residents    of Holford and Dodington. You can order from the shopping list (updated for 18/4/2020) we have put together and email your order through to Kate katr.hammond@gmail.com  or Mike coplestonm@gmail.com.  Alternatively, you can place your order by phone 741306. Whichever way you choose to order, please use the product number followed by the quantity you would like eg 022 x 3. If   there   are   any   items   you   would   like   that   are   not   on   the list,   please   feel   free   to   order   them   and   Kilve   Stores   will   do their utmost to accommodate your requests. Payment   can   be   by   cheque   (made   payable   to   Kilve   Stores), cash   or   bank   transfer.   You   will   receive   your   bill   the   next   day (Sunday),   either   on   paper   or   by   email,   and   payment   will   be collected   on   the   Monday.   If   you   choose   to   make   payment   via bank   transfer   please   put   “Kilve   Stores”   followed   by   your customer   number   (which   will   appear   on   your   bill)   in   the reference   line   of   your   bank’s   payment   system   as   this   will enable   Matt   and   Charlotte   to   keep   track   of   payments.   Their bank details will be on the bottom of your bill. Orders   must   be   received   by   5   pm   on   Saturday   for   delivery the following Saturday. As   most   of   you   will   be   aware,   Kilve   Stores   is   run   by   a   very small team and they are very stretched at the moment. Prescriptions If   you   take   a   medication   on   a   regular   basis,   please   keep   an eye    on    your    “stock    level”    and    re-order    in    good    time.      Dispensaries   can   only   supply   one   month’s   prescription   at   a time. A   member   of   Holford   Parish   Council/Volunteer   will   collect   & deliver your prescription.
