Holford & District Village Hall

The Village hall hosts many activities ranging from Art Group to Table Tennis. It is registered as a Charity and is governed by a committee drawn from members of the village. A Coffee Morning is held on the first Saturday of most months to help raise funds for the upkeep of the hall. Apart from Tea/Coffee and cake there are stalls selling second hand books, produce and craft items. The hall has car parking and disabled toilet facilities. Chairs, tables, cutlery, crockery and glasses are also available for hire.

Directions:

On the A39, Bridgwater to Minehead road, approx 12 miles west of Bridgwater. The Village Hall is on the right hand side of the main road, travelling from the Bridgwater direction, diagonally opposite the Plough Inn. HIRE CHARGES

The Village Hall Committee is made up of Representatives from the three villages of Holford, Stringston and Dodington. The Hall is licensed by the Performing Rights Society for the performance of live and recorded music, and has a seating capacity of 100 persons. The Hall also possesses a Public Entertainment Licence for the hours of Monday to Friday to lam and Saturday to midnight.

Hiring Charges

The following charging structure was approved by the committee 17th March 2016. To be introduced for newly signed hire contracts at the start of the new financial year 2016. There is a meter for heating which takes £1 and £2 coins. Power for cooking etc. is included in the hire charge.

Standard  - Standard Fees apply to all individuals, commercial government or charitable enterprises where the organiser or organisation is not based in Holford Stringston or Dodington or surrounding villages Locals - A local person or organisation based in, or with members residing in Holford, Stringston, or Dodington or surrounding villages Examples: Local Resident’s Party, Church Meetings, Hobby Groups, Charities Committee – A committee meeting of a Local organisation Community – a general information meeting for the benefit of the local community Examples: EDF re Hinckley Point, Planning meetings Children – parties and events for the benefit of Local children Setting Up Time Setting Up / Breaking Down Time is to be charged at the hourly rate for events lasting up to one day. However, for events of more than 24 hours, such charges are at the discretion of the Bookings Secretary. EQUIPMENT – For external hire. (hirer to collect) China & Cutlery Up to 50 place settings £12.00 51 to 100 place settings £22.00 Goblet Glasses Up to 50  £7.50 51 to 100 £15.00 All breakages must be declared and will be charged at cost (Cup and saucer will be classed as 2 items) NOTICE TO ALL HIRERS The floor must be swept at the termination of hires (Brooms are provided in the foyer cupboard) The Hall must be left in a clean state. Hall tables and chairs are not to be removed from the Hall All tables that are used must be wiped clean, and correctly stacked. Hall chairs are to be stacked on the stage – no more than six high. The hirer must remove all rubbish. Any hirer using the baby changing unit must remove any soiled materials All power switches to be turned off in disabled toilet. All bookings and hiring can be arranged through the Booking Officer. Mr. A Mew  Tel. 01278 741437 LOTTERY The Village Hall Management Committee act as promoters for a Lottery. Tickets are £10 per year, 50% of the takings are paid to Hall Funds. 1 prizewinner receives 30% of the takings, and the two runners up each receive 10%. Chairman. Alan Falkingham Treasurer.
