Chairman of Holford Parish Council

At the Parish Council meeting held at Combe House Hotel on Monday 12th November 2018 Cllr. Chris Hayes announced his resignation as Chairman and as a councillor with immediate  effect. He stated he could not give the time the position deserved and wished to devote more time on his business and with his family. This means that there is now a casual vacancy. Chris was one who pulled his weight  and will be missed.

‘Help Holford Hall’

Holford & District’s refurbished and enlarged community hall is about to become a reality. But we still need your help. The Hall committee has successfully secured £565,500 in grant funding from the charitable trusts listed below. We now have sufficient funds for the main project, but will need a little more money, and some practical help, to finish off the Hall.

 Happy Feet Garden Tours -

Norfolk

 Sunday 16th - Thursday 20th June 2019

A garden tour of Norfolk in 2019 will be the eighth trip for Happy Feet travellers! Leaving early on Sunday morning 16th June, to reach our hotel in Norwich by late afternoon, with a garden to visit en route! I anticipate we will visit seven gardens/nurseries over those four days, including the Royal Sandringham Estate, and also a couple of gardens under the National Garden Scheme, with the addition of an optional guided tour of Norwich with lunch (or a little free time to ‘do your own thing’!) The cost of this trip will include the following:  entry to all those venues, all coach travel, with pick up points along the A39 from Minehead to Bridgwater; four nights’ accommodation  three course evening meal and breakfast, the use of leisure amenities at the hotel, all gratuities (hotel/driver etc.,) and where applicable, guided tours, lunch / refreshments. All single rooms are now taken but some twin bed rooms and a couple of double bed rooms are still available. A deposit will be required by the end of November, so if anyone is interested, do please contact me if you would like to join our little group, I can then send you the booking form, and final itinerary. The group is run on a ‘you get what you pay for’ policy, there are no hidden extras, it is all purely self-financing. Finally, you don’t necessarily have to be a gardener! I like to think these trips of ours are arranged as a ‘community’ project, where people who may be on their own can make new friends, or for those of course, who would like to bring along a fellow companion.  We are a friendly crowd, there is always plenty of laughter, good conversation and in fact on a lot of occasions, the ‘horticultural’ side of things take second place! All newcomers and past travellers will be made very welcome. Mo (Plomgren) Holford Tel: 01278 741152   or  email:  plomdove4145@googlemail.com
